Chapter 8 - Step 6 - Install Outside Seatbelt & External Step

July 15, 2006 - Install Outside Seatbelt Attach and External Step
I never did get around to using one of my vendor's metal band saw to fab the seatbelt attach points so I did it in my garage with a hand saw (WOW! I understand why builders will spend money on things they don't use that much!)

I then got the metal attach points all shaped like I wanted (Left photo) and went on to make the 1/4" plywood inserts that fit along the lower longerons to act as reinforcing points for the seatbelts.

After this was completed. I placed them against the lower longerons per plans using flox to fasten them and then covered each spot with a 7 layer BID layup. I do need to go back and drill the hole through the metal attach points and alodine the metal. At this point I do not have the step. I'll order it from the cozygirrrls when they start making it. I'll probably wait until I can order it from them and won't install anything till then so I am going to stay on hold on this step till then. It won't take long to complete the rest though. A couple hours at most.
