What materials are you building your plane out of?The construction materials for the fuselage, bulkheads and the majority of the aircraft are largely different types of foam and fiberglass cloth (Known as BID and UNI). Of course there are pre-manufactured metal parts in locations where you would imagine there there would be and in a couple locations you use a bit of wood. But for the most part, it's cloth and foam. The construction process is know as a composite construction process and requires fewer skills and is easier to learn. It is uniquely suited for homebuilding and unsuited for mass production. It is superior to other forms of construction in terms of skills required, simplicity, strength, ability to absorb energy, resistance to fatigue and corrosion, repairability and durability. It is state-of-the-art.
